One-Off Accucraft 2-8-0 Engine

November 6, 2009

This is a cool engine that the seller claims is a one-off prototype used during the the development of this 2-8-0 by Accucraft. He was supposedly the guy who helped with the development, and this was part of his payment. No idea if that’s true or not. Regardless, it’s really cool, and several people are already bidding on it. The price is currently at about $750 (1/2 of reserve), and there are 5 days left. It’d be great if it went to a good home…

Large LGB Track Lot on eBay

November 5, 2009

When I was first starting to build up my N-scale railway that I had in my office when I worked at eBay, I perused the site for larger lots of track to build up my layout quickly and affordably. I wish I had thought about doing that when I was acquiring my g-scale track. This lot would be a good way to get a bunch of curved track and some miscellaneous other things (transformer, crossing, a couple of switches, and some straight track) that would give a noobie a good start in building their first layout that goes beyond a simple, small oval. A few more pieces of straight track and you could run a layout all over the living room during the holidays… :)

Aristocraft Snowplow

November 5, 2009

While the official start of winter is still over a month away, in some parts of the US it is already snowing. It doesn’t particularly snow where I live, but when I lived in Ohio I always wanted to get one of these snowplow cars as a partial justification for setting up an actual garden railway. There are 5 days left in this auction on eBay, and already 4 bidders have taken this train car up to $25.

Aristocraft Passenger Car Set (California Zephyr)

November 4, 2009

I found this cool, though somewhat unadorned, customized set of Aristocraft passenger cars on eBay. They are lettered as California Zephyr, which, if you are in California might be perfect if you are looking for an addition to your garden railway.

Included in the listing are the five cars shown below. Current Buy-It-Now price is $999 with $60 shipping, from a seller who has a good feedback rating (99.8%).

    COACH
    DINER
    BAGGAGE
    OBSERVATION

LGB Mikado 2-8-2 Engine and Tender

November 3, 2009

I found this engine on eBay, and I really like it! The seller claims it’s never been used, but as it has supposedly been stored for years, I’d hardly call it new. I do think it would be a great basis for some customization to bring a bit more authenticity to the look. Perhaps redoing the line to match mine/yours, whatever that may be.

Current price is just over $1K with 5 days left in the auction and 12 bidders. This engine seems to be gathering a fair bit of notice, so we shall see how high the auction goes…

Welcome to the blog…

November 3, 2009

Greetings to all who visit this blog. My goal in starting to write about G-scale trains is to share my love for these larger sized models, as well as sharing any good finds I make whilst surfing the web. There may be my own trains featured occasionally, but mostly I want to find other cool things to write about…
